WATSON BAY REVISITED

TUESDAY 5th APRIL

I texted Bridie telling her that I would be over this morning.  I made an early start which wasn't a good move as all the roads into town were bogged down with barely moving traffic.  It took me an hour and a half to get to Eastwood.  Even so Bridie was still in her pyjamas when I arrived.  I suggested three possible scenarios for the day; 1- Blue Mountains, 2- Walk from Bronte to Bondi, 3 - Visit to Duty Free Store in the Rocks.  Angela decided that the best way to chose was to draw lots.  She put the three options in a mug and got me to draw the lot.  It turned out to be the visit to the Duty Free Shop in the Rocks.  I drove down to Eastwood Station but had to park some way away.

We got to Circular Quay and walked up to George Street and no 155 was straight ahead of us.  We went to the appropriate dept and Bridie found what she was looking for and went to pay.  She had brought her passport with her, but was told that what was needed was her ticket.  Oops!  Another visit required!

We walked round to the Opera House and did a tour right round the building taking photos from all angles

After completing our circular tour of the Opera House, we adjourned for a latte in the Opera Bar and sat outside watching the world go by.

We returned to Circular Quay and caught a ferry to Watson Bay, the scene of Angela's great eating triumph at Doyles 12 years ago.  We went to Doyles on the pier this time and sampled their fish and chips.

But for old times sake we took a picture of Angela against the background of Doyles renown restaurant.
Word reached us that the next ferry was the last ferry back to Central Quay so we quickly made our way to the boarding point just as a ferry arrived.  However it turned out to be the Captain Cook Ferry and not ours.  As a result we had about a 20 minute wait for what indeed proved to be the last ferry of the day.

It was a katamaran and fairly sped along towards the slowly setting sun.  I ventured out to the open air front of the craft, a good vantage point for all sorts of shots, including those inside the boat!

We just about beat the rush hour home on the train to Eastwood, and after popping in to Woolies for bread and consulting a pharmacist about the bites on her leg - Bridie got some anti-hystamine tablets although they do not do the cream in Australia, I ran the girls back to the gaff and then made my way to Oakhurst, arriving just as dinner was being served!
