SATURDAY 18th DECEMBER
Spent the night on my own as Mark and Robert stayed in CArlingford. Apparently they had a somewhat late night as Mark was a touch bleary eyed this morning, and he lay down to catch up with his sleep. Robert drove me down into Eastwood to do some shopping and then drove me back. I then settled down to watch the cricket but the less said about that the better, not a good day!
Robert returned in the afternoon and we went shopping in Carlingford where we got sausages, potatoes, mushroom, onion, broccoli and pumpkin and Robert cooked dinner for all of us. It was a major effort to get Nick to eat his sausage, although he consumed the potatoes quite happily. He has progressed to handling Jingles without donning a dressing gown. In fact Jingles found a very comfortable spot to have a kip.
We played football and I beat him, but then lost Wii football 11-1, albeit I was the first one to score a goal against him, Robert and Mark having lost 5-0 and 6-0 respectively. We had a slight mishap when I tried to drop Nick on the settee but caught his leg on the coffee table. I was out of favour for some time after that! Nick tried dressing Mark up as a Christmas tree, but it didn't last.
We left about 10.00pm and called in at the Eastwood for three beers before calling it a night. According to text messages received by Mark, the weather in England is dire again, freezing conditions and snow with the Chelsea v Man U game cancelled today and Heathrow Airport closed. It has cooled down a bit here but only down to about 24 degrees.
We had 8-10 inches of snow in Amersham on Saturday. Everything ground to a halt. Prevented us going to Ian's golf club xmas bash which got cancelled because of the weather
