GOODBYE ALAN HELLO PENRITH

SATURDAY 8th JANUARY

Was woken up by the screams of my co-habitant Alan, who had severe cramp in his calf.  He eventually managed to get out for a walk and was gone for a couple of hours, mainly because his knock on the door went unheeded.  He returned with a morning paper, so we were able to read about the final rites of Australian cricket.

Robert drove Al down to Eastwood station and as we were early, we adjourned for coffee next to the station.  Rob also went for an egg and bacon roll.   Alan's train was leaving about quarter to one so about
five minutes earlier he departed for platform 1 and his flight to Melbourne.  Apparently Debbie's partner Peter is picking him up at the airport, and Alan suspects that he will stay the night with them as they are off deep sea fishing at 5.30am.  I await to hear how successful Alan will be in this venture.

Later in the afternoon we drove over to Penrith to visit the Cacares family where the alcoholic consumption of beer and wine was of a high order.  The lasagne was delicious and a very pleasant night was had by all.  It was a pretty hot and humid night but I slept like a log.
